It's been a long time... 25 years...

The Commodore 64 was an 8-bit home computer released by Commodore International in August, 1982 and made an impressive debut at the 1982 Winter Consumer Electronics Show, as recalled by Production Engineer David A. Ziembicki: All we saw at our booth were Atari people with their mouths dropping open, saying, 'How can you do that for $595?'. Approximately 10,000 commercial software titles were developed for the Commodore 64 including development tools, office applications and games.
Often overshadowed by the Apple II and Atari 800, the Commodore 64 rose to great heights in the 1980s. From 1982-1993, 17 million C64s were sold. The Guinness Book of World Records lists the Commodore 64 as the best-selling single computer model.
A long time ago I had one at home and I don't remember how many hours I spent playing games. There was also the time when everyone started programming in Basic and hacking his machine with additional tools (including many mods and cartridges). Demo Scene was growing strong and creating some serious shit... I sold my C64 one day to have some money for my first 286...

Dashing through the snow...
After a long and exhausting day we went to Sioux restaurant for X-Mas party (near Old Marketplace in Poznan). This is probably the only picture where I appeared. We got vouchers for a booze but Jameson was not included so I had to buy it... Damn it ! The best part of socialising was karaoke competition which was a lot of fun (after a few pints).
Induction time has finished so I'm starting some real work... I even prepared my new t-shirt: "I read your e-mail"

Database replicator started...

I came to Poland and I wanted to rest for a while. I had a lot of time so I went to Wroclaw to MS conference about optimizing and securing infrastructure - I'm waiting for the labs to become available in here.
I had nothing important to do so I started looking at the jobs in IT. I sent my CV directly to 11 companies - I was invited to 7 interviews (Poznan, Wroclaw & Krakow) within just 2 weeks.
I got a call on the 11th of November from HR saying that I got a job. What is so odd about this? Not only that was Sunday but also it was Independence Day. I had exactly 4 interviews when going for this position - even a conference calls and... psychologist. I'm officially Lotus Domino Admin. What is so great about this? I don't care about network problems. I don't care about any hardware issues. I don't care about operating systems. I don't even care about end user as I have no contact with this group at all. I don't care about anything but Lotus. Jaysus, I'm so smart I'm practically retarded...
I had a choice: I got also 3 other Sys Admin positions that I rejected. It seems that many things changed in here. Robert, you should consider coming here for a while and go for IT manager positions as wages are pretty much the same as in Ireland. I know, you would have to convince your better half somehow...
It's time to see what Redbooks site offers now...
